Phuket, Thailand
Not all hotels are created equal, and few hotels come as tranquil as Keemala. Set in the lush, rainforest of Kamala, Keemala is an unspoiled paradise where guests are invited to tread lightly on this evergreen patch of earth.
Nestled in a nature-surrounded playground of pool villas, Keemala presents a range of sought-after spa treatments, holistic wellness programs, enticing gastronomic fare and relaxing activities. Here, a choice of four suite styles allows travellers to rest their weary heads in alluring Birds Nest Pool Villas, Tent Pool Villas, Clay Pool Villas or in a Tree Pool House.
Behind the scenes, there’s more to Keemala than what meets the holidaymaker’s captivated eye. Keemala is a hotel that treats its location with true reverence, ensuring its low impact on the planet.
Every villa has its own water treatment system, waste is minimal (you won’t spot any plastic packaging here), and the structures’ designs have been carefully considered to protect the existing ecosystem. Glass plays an important role in the buildings’ designs, in order to reduce the need for synthetic lighting.
In an effort to support the community, all fabrics and textiles used in the villas are produced by ethnic minority groups in Thailand, as part of the Doi Tung Development Project.
At Keemala, water plants are used to treat the stream, waterfall and other natural water sources like a natural water filtration system. In-room amenities are natural, paraben-free and cruelty-free, and the on-site Enchanted Garden flourishes with vegetables and herbs that are used in the kitchen and spa.
Guests can take garden tours, cooking classes, or partake in zen-inducing yoga, tai chi, and meditation classes.
On the property, guests can meet Keemala’s resident rescue water buffalo and learn about this animal’s significance in Thai culture, and get to know its rescued baby goats, ducks, peacocks and chickens merrily roaming the grounds.
